Original Book

Ahmed Ali

If your Lord had willed, all the people on the earth would have come to believe, one and all.

If your Lord had so willed (and, denying them free will, compelled humankind to believe), all who are on the earth would surely have believed, all of them. Would you, then, force people until they become believers?

And [thus it is:] had thy Sustainer so willed, all those who live on earth would surely have attained to faith, all of them: 122  dost thou, then, think that thou couldst compel people to believe,

Daryabadi

And had thy Lord willed, those who are on the earth would have believed, all of them, together; canst thou then compel mankind until they become believers?

Faridul Haque

And if your Lord willed, all those who are in the earth - everyone of them - would have accepted faith; so will you (O dear Prophet Mohammed - peace and blessings be upon him) force the people until they become Muslims?

If only there were a community that had believed and profited from its faith. But none did except the people of Jonah. When they believed We removed from them the Torment of Disgrace in this world, and We gave them provision for a while.

If it had been the will of your Rabb that all the people of the world should be believers, all the people of the earth would have believed! Would you then compel mankind against their will to believe?

Maulana Mohammad Ali

And why was there not a town which believed, so that their belief should have profited them, but the people of Jonah? When they believed, We removed from them the chastisement of disgrace in this world’s life, and We gave them provision for a while.

Muhammad Sarwar

Had your Lord wished, the whole of mankind would have believed in Him. (Muhammad), do you force people to have faith?
